Structure of IELTS Exam

The IELTS test evaluates your proficiency across four core language skills.

Format Task Duration
Listening Students listen to four recordings of native English speakers and answer related questions. 30 Minutes
Reading 40 questions designed to test a wide range of reading skills and comprehension. 60 Minutes
Writing Two tasks in both Academic and General Training formats. 60 Minutes
Speaking Face-to-face interview assessing spoken English proficiency. Every test is recorded. 11–14 Minutes
Important Points:
  • Listening, Reading, and Writing are completed on the same day.
  • Speaking may be scheduled before or after the main test date.
  • Total test duration is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
